International Rail Freight Services
Rail transport can be considered as part of an overland or multimodal route for containers, industrial equipment and regular shipments. Vega Sirius coordinates cargo parameters, origin and destination terminals, transitions, documents and the last mile in a single plan.
Container and wagon planning
Equipment is selected based on size, weight, packaging, loading method and terminal capabilities. Dangerous, temperature and oversized cargo are accepted only after separate technical and legal verification.
Transit and terminal connections
For each border, ferry and terminal stage, the operator, the transfer of documents and possible transshipment are determined in advance. Schedules and capacity vary, so deadlines will be communicated once the line has been confirmed on the date of request.
Door to door coordination
If necessary, auto pick-up, export procedure, main railway stage, customs in Azerbaijan and delivery to the address are combined in one sentence. Terminal, transit and final costs are shown separately.
For assessment, you need the name of the product, available data on the HS code, dimensions and weight, packaging, addresses, Incoterms, date of readiness and special modes.
Rail corridors through Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is the central link of the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, TITR): container trains from China and Central Asia cross the Caspian from the Kazakh ports of Aktau and Kuryk to Alat port, then continue on the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway and via Georgian ports to Türkiye and Europe. Wagon movements via Russia and the North–South corridor are assessed separately. Routing options are explained on the Middle Corridor rail freight and shipping from China to Azerbaijan pages.
What the service includes
- Container or wagon type selection and space booking with the operator;
- delivery to the origin terminal, export formalities and loading coordination;
- checks of SMGS or CIM rail consignment notes, invoice, packing list and transit documents;
- document handover and transloading control at borders, ferry and terminal stages;
- customs clearance in Azerbaijan, terminal collection and delivery to the final address.
When rail makes sense
Rail is usually the middle option: faster than sea and considerably cheaper than air, suited to containers, industrial equipment, building materials and recurring consignments. Actual transit depends on train schedules, ferry connections, terminal congestion and document readiness, so no fixed day count is published here. The cost structure is explained in the rail freight pricing and routing guide.
What drives the price
Origin and destination terminals, container or wagon type, the number of transloading and ferry stages, transit-country tariffs, terminal storage terms, documentation and customs, final-mile distance and insurance needs. Rates, schedules and equipment apply only after written confirmation.
What we need for a quote
Loading and destination address or terminal, cargo description and any available HS code, dimensions and weight, packaging, container or wagon requirement, readiness date, Incoterms and any special regime. Send the request through the contact form.
